#case study
HEInnovate is a free self-assessment tool for higher education institutions (HEIs) to explore their entrepreneurial and innovative potential. Launched by the European Commission and OECD, it allows HEIs to diagnose their strengths and weaknesses, and kickstart internal discussions on their entrepreneurial nature. We were involved in the project to revamp the website, make the tool more user-friendly and increase engagement.
Redesigning the website not only meant improving the interface and UX but adding functionality to increase the value proposition of the tool, which we did with new functions such as self-assessments for individual bodies and for groups. We also ensured that the results would be instant and accompanied with recommendations in the form of case studies and digital resources. To increase engagement, we developed messaging to aid users with on-boarding and getting the best out of the tool, as well as a social media campaign to carry it to the right audiences.
We assigned a product owner from our team who was responsible for liaising with the client, obtaining briefs and then setting the tasks and priorities for our project team. With the various skills required to deliver the tasks, from designers to developers to our comms experts, the team worked in tandem from the start of the project. This enabled us to develop solutions with the full spectrum of project needs in mind.
The impact of this proactive approach saw our project team organising workshops in countries across Europe, showcasing the fully automated self-assessment process for HEIs and underlining the transformative effect it could have. Our multi-faceted marketing effort drew almost 13000 users from more than 60 countries to the website. They completed more than 8000 self-assessments meaning that HEInnovate, and the work WAAT did for it, is set to play a large part in shaping the entrepreneurial culture of higher education for many years to come.
